Approach

Whole Skills is rooted in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), a  psychotherapy method that focuses on teaching practical, concrete skills for emotional well-being. In the 1980s psychologist Dr. Marsha Linehan developed DBT for clinical, therapeutic settings to help people with significant mental health challenges. The effectiveness of DBT has been well-attested in research and is evident in the improved mental health of those who have learned and implemented these skills.

Dr. Golden discovered that the skills actually have a more expansive application: absolutely anyone who is eager to thrive at life can benefit from learning and applying skills. She created Whole Skills Coaching to transport DBT skills from the clinical setting to a wider audience. The Whole Skills are for each of us, because we each can strengthen our emotional well being.
